Well guys, Kelly and I aren't going to make it. The car is packed and ready to go but we woke up this morning and a personal issue came up. I'm truly disappointed. I was really looking forward to this. It's unfortunate, but life sometimes does this sort of thing. I hope everyone has a great time. I'm really sorry I'll miss it.

What a trip I had, just got back about 40 minutes ago.
Had a blast! have pics later

This was one of the most eventful jams ever, and it had nothing to do w/ fishing!!! Report coming later.

What a tease! We're hanging on the cliff Squatch!

Report:
Arrived Thursday morning around 8:30am. Was 74 when I left Ephrata, 48 when I arrived on Denton Hill! Got camp opened, headed out to get some groceries for breakfast, when I returned, Moosehead_Belle was waiting for me, an hour (at least) early.

We headed out to the Allegheny above Coudersport. Water was low, but fishable. Connected with one, moved a lot of fish. Nothing landed. Headed back to camp to wait for the rest of the crew. Sal arrived around 5:00pm and we headed to the West Branch Pine. Beautiful evening with nothing but chubs.

Back at camp, Bikerfish (Al) and his buddy Chuck were waitin' for us! This is where the fun begins. Al and Chuck decided to camp (as others have done in the past) in the north yard of the cabin. RickinPA arrived that evening as well.

About midnight, we decide to all go to bed. Al and Chuck went out to their tents. Not 2 minutes later the backdoor flies open and Al yells, "Where's Andy!?. I said, "right here."

"All our stuff is gone!"
me-"What!?"
Al-"Yeah it's all F*@cking gone!"

The crew runs out w/ headlamps into the woods. We find their tents 100-150' back in the woods, dragged by by a bear. They're ripped apart, Chuck's METAL FRAMED cot was busted up, sleeping bags and pillows torn up, this was no joke!!!!

First "bear attack" at a PAFF Jam I think! Thank God they weren't out there when the bear came by.

So this kept us amped up til 2am.

8:00am we hear a knock at the door. Forum member Gangreen was a'knockin! He happens to be the WCO for northern Potter so we reported the bear to him.

Skybay (Jared) arrived around 10:00am, and of course craziness ensued (took him about 45 minutes to spill the first beer!)

Headed out to various places on Friday. Tough, low, clear sky conditions. But Rick and I met up w/ Turkey (Jeff)

Sitting back at camp, Jared and Dan walk in. Long Island and Poland getting together like that is hilarity. They say, "Hey, we're city slickers...you country boys, we have a question for you! What is this!?"

And Jared proceeds to pull a turnip out from behind his back. Of course all of us say it's a turnip. Jared then cuts it up and starts handing out slices. Dan and Jared said it tasted like a radish (would have been HUGE for a radish!) but I had to taste it! It definitely was a turnip, and I quickly ran out the cabin door to hurl the thing out of my mouth.

So...now we have a bear attack AND Jared stealing from someone's food plot...This weekend was getting crazier!

Jerry (my dad) arrived Friday night.

Saturday we headed for big water, down to Pine @ Slate and Cedar. Sal fished up Cedar and caught many fish (all the big pools held fish willing and able). The rest of us drummed up a few trout on the big water.

Saturday night, Jared cooked some killer burgers, and then he proceeded to tell us all what he looks for in a dental hygienist....

Sunday we cleaned up and all were out by 10:30am. Great time! Fishing was very tough, but the scenery and company was stunning.

Roster:
Sasquatch
Jerry
Moosehead_Belle
Gangreen
RickinPA
Skybay
Bikerfish
Chuck
Sal
Turkey

Chris, sorry you guys couldn't join us!!! Everyone else who had to bail last minute, you were missed. Picks will come soon.

Friday
Part 1:

Friday late morning/afternoon a spent poking around the East Fork of the Sinnemahoning. Fishing was lackluster but the place was pretty.

Getting disinterested, I left and past by bikerfish's truck by the West Branch and made my way through Galeton to Painter Run Road and drove through the entire Tioga State Forest down to Cedar Run. When we had our cabin it was off of here and I just wanted to do it for nostalgia sake. I cant tell you how many streams Ive fished here and how many fish Ive caught. One of my favorite forests and drives ever. The sheer amount of vistas is stunning and wonderful in fall. This year's fall is not as pretty as most. In fact, lots have trees have already dropped. Even still it was nice to do again, I took a few pics but was just driving slow. Took me 3 hours to drive to Cedar Run.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time milling around in the woods. When I reached Cedar Run it was 5pm. Tons of small mayflies and caddis of every shape/color and size buzzing about smacking the water.

Brookies were one them too. I immediately starting hooking up. I fished downstream with a size 12/14 Goddard caddis/ tan caddis and yellow caddis dries using 14-15ft of leader. I was making very long casts into the heads of the pools and then working 3 ft closer at a time, I'd move forward and cast again. Sometimes I would even mend line out to drift into the pools further. The water is extremely low and glassy. This technique worked very well for 1.5 hours at when it poured down on me hard. I decided to walk out but took a few casts. Suddenly browns were active. I did spook one very large brown this night too. I decided immediately i was coming back tomorrow.

36729416384_a76a387fb5_b.jpg

It's worth noting that the water is extremely low. All the brookies for the most part were in the heads of the pools. I thought it was an interesting observation because they were the in good enough numbers be be noticeable. Nearly all my first casts at the heads of deep pools yielded fish.

to be continued...........

Saturday
Part 2

I arrived at Cedar Run at 10:30am and a large brown was leaping out of the water at the first pool and I watched him for a minute, then in three casts this guy ate my Caddis.

36729409974_48e4e3c3aa_b.jpg

I did the same technique this day but the overcast skies had the large browns that have migrated in from Pine more active. Most pools had them and I believe the are finding each other in preparation to spawn. I did see one brown that was around 25". I had 8 browns hooked from 16-20 inch. I landed 6. The brookies were less active. I did lose a 10" brookie at my feet.
It was by far my best trip ever on Cedar. At 6:30pm I packed it again. I was drenched in sweat even though it was cool, I was beat up but satisfied. I didnt fish Sunday morning. I was to sore.

Its also worth noting that the browns rose painfully slow. It was torture and exciting to watch!

Thanks again to Andy for hosting. It is really an awesome event and I look forward to it every year. Nice as always to meet everyone!

Already dreaming of yesterday and daydreaming of next year.

Great pics Sal. You really made the most out of the low water we were dealt. Very impressive.

Great to see everyone again. I learned a lot as usual. Rickinpa, you have me thinking about articulated streamers and 7wts. Andy thank you again for the hospitality and opening up the camp to us. It was especially good to see your dad again.

Hopefully I'll see you guys again sooner than later.
