Hi Eunan - Last year was the first year for this event. Just guessing, but I'd say attendance was 40+. Not all tied.
If I had to guess, I'd guess 50+ this year. We have tying space for roughly 36 tyers. Time is gonna be the limiting factor as to how many can tie. We're allowing 15 minutes per tyer (except you), but I'd really not want to double up tying sessions - too easy to miss something. Some tyers may not take up their alloted 15 minutes, and this would allow more tyers to tie without "doubling up" tying sessions.
If we have to, we'll do it though. It'd be easy to do, as we start at one end of the room and go around the circle. As people finish their session, they could pack up to allow other tyers a seat to tie. The tying tables are arranged on the perimeter of the room to allow access to electric without cords being in the spectator space.
I really don't see this happening right now, but you never know.
As far as advertising, the Nature Center is putting this in their newsletter, and posting a flyer on their bulletin board. This event is open to the public, and there are several non-PAFF members tying.
This was never intended as a media event, just a bunch of PAFF members getting together to share and learn from each other. Our "media coverage" is being handled by gfen, and I'll post a slide show of the event, as well as the finished flies. Each fly will be identified with the pattern name, and the name of the tyer.
Most of these guys have little experience tying in the public spotlight. Last year, some guys were really nervous about doing this. None needed to be, as they all did a great job tying their flies.
