>>>What Are You Tying Today? Part II

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question. Moderators please excuse me if this is incorrect. I am putting it here because others on this forum seem to have the answer I am looking for.

How do you take pictures of your flies to post here? Specifically how do you get close ups and the clarity. Lots of great pics. Is it photography skills or equipment. Perhaps setting on the camara?

Any enlightenment greatly appreciated.

March Brown extended feather body. This was fun to tie. This was my first attempt. Needs a little tweaking.

Hook - Mustad #10 94833
Thread 12/0 Euro
Tail wood duck flank
Ribbing size A silk brown.
Body, hairline dubbin, march brown.
Hackle medium cree.
Wings, wood duck flank split.

I just use the camera on my Ipad...it is not that great but it works. Others with digital SLR or regular digital cameras most likely use a macro lens or setting. Start a new topic about it and I am sure you will get some answers.

Nice! Looks like the tail is just tied in behind the wing before hackling?

Mike, thats a sweet tie!

Sandfly, you are making me all misty eyed. Tarpon are a great passion for me. Also I sent you a pm.

Real nice tie, Mike. Definitely a different concept and very well tied.

I like that soft hackle, dc. I'm thinking that with peacock like a soft hackle Griffith's Gnat.

Great stuff on here guys!
Some adams style biot comparaduns. Deer and CDC.
Tail-Coq de Leon
Body-Grey turkey biot
Thorax-superfine
Wings- Mixed natural and bleached deer and mixed brown, dun and white CDC

And some Baetis/Olive hotspot quill and biot nymphs
Tail-CDL
Body- Peacock quill or turkey biot
Thorax- SLF squirrel
Thead-Uni fire orange
Tungsten bead

I tied a bunch of Czech nymphs in size 10 and 12. These Partridge Czech nymph hooks are nice.

DCap
Nice ties....Particularly like that Czech nymph....

DCap. Like those Adams comparaduns. Think I'll whip a few up tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration.

What did you use on that caddis nymph? What is sweet. Very realistic.

The Czech nymph is just hares ear dubbing in olive, hares ear plus in dark brown. mono rib and scud back colored with permanent marker. I tied some of these a couple different ways. Some with orange hares ear in the middle, some with natural hares ear bodies and some with speckled thin skin.

Nice ties man! Those comparaduns are sweet!

Flies to match the bait in Tioga river.

I know I mentioned it before, but I will say it again: I'm am enjoying this thread immensely! The amount of fly-tying knowledge on display in this thread is incredible! I hope one day to be up to the quality of the other tiers on this thread.

Here's what I played at tying today. Couple of soft-hackles with biot quill bodies and some nymphs.
