After getting this thread off track I think I’ll call it My Mistaken Done. 😃 Trout would make a mistake if they thought they were eating a March Brown Dun.

I don't tie flies because i dont have the time. But if i did i would tie simple natural looking patterns like this one. Cool fly, i bet that thing produces fish. would be awesome during a march brown hatch i bet

Trout Fin Bucktail

Tail - Narrow section of red goose quill curved upward
Ribbing - Oval silver tinsel
Body - Flat silver tinsel
Wing - Sparse white bucktail tied over the body with an overwing of sparse black bucktail, then a larger bunch of dark orange bucktail

This is one of the many variations of the pattern. It is dressed to simulate the fin of an Eastern Brook Trout.

It actually is not that time consuming and 99% of all flies fished are very simple to tie. I am surely a proponent of the simpler the better and this fly, like most flies, is a very simple and productive tie. It productive on trout, bass, sunnies, pickerel, and anything else that resides in water.
