I am not up on some of these new materials! What are these slotted beads? Does it allow you to use smaller beads that you otherwise couldn't run up the hook?

Slotted beads allow you to fit the bead over the bend of the hook and over the bend in the jig style hook. If you get good ones they also help keeping the weight up so you don't have to use lead wrap (ex. Orvis slotteds are garbage because the slot is so wide)

I like looking at this thread but it's kind of depressing because I realize what a **** tyer I am!

Here's an ugly one on a size 2 4xl shank hook. I dont like casting it with less than a 7 weight but I'm sure some would be fine casting it on a 5.

Moon: nfrechet's ties are more of an ideal than a comparative. My ties are not as neat and well proportioned either, but they catch fish. I'm sure yours do, too.

Always remember......it's not what YOU think looks good to the fish.....it's what the FISH thinks!!!!

I've caught trout on flies that were coming unraveled!! Your attempting to imitate a bug.....not tying an exact look alike!!!

A buddy of mine is headed for Florida for some saltwater fishing. I've never tied for saltwater but I did the shrimp below. I'll tie up one more with brown Marabou instead of grey. I'm using a lot of glue as I figure those saltwater fish can be somewhat tough on a bug.

Here’s some of my latest!

Fairly easy to tie too. I'd like to get them down a little neater though.
