I am going to the Keys next June. Playing with some new tarpon patterns. Tarpon have gotten very picky over the years. I'll be sending some to my guide so he can try them out. It is time to wake this thread up anyway.

Love em GenCon. I like the sparseness. I'm super intrigued by tarpon flies and you're right...it seems like there's always some secret or hot fly our there considering the amount folks fishing in the Keys. Good stuff.

My 9 year old son is currently fascinated with Star Wars and he has been crafting origami Star Wars characters for the past few weeks... I am enjoying seeing him show pride in his Star Wars paper-craft creations. Apparently seeing him get a kick out of making Star Wars creations inspired me at my vise...

Here are some Star Wars themed flies I cranked out this evening.

A Darth Vader Stonefly nymph

A Stormtrooper Stonefly nymph

And a Chewbacca Bugger.

I cannot attest to any of them having any sort of trout-catchability...

I am stumped on how to make a Yoda themed fly. Perhaps a peeking cased caddisfly nymph with ears???

Math fish, well done! Get on that peeking Yoda caddis and post pics! They are all nice, but my favorite is the stormtrooper stonefly.

They are really nice. Great to hear you're going after tarpon.

Thanks Bob,

mathfish those are some really great ties. I too really like the storm trooper. Very well tied.

Mathfish - I think all your Star Wars themed flies will catch fish. Nice.

Another Tarpon fly. Tarpon like shrimp. This is kin of a shrimpy fly.

Caddis emergers, basically a variation of a Matthew's Iris Caddis. This one has tan ice dub for the wing instead of the standard zelon.
