Why Only Trout ???

Hey Fred,

While I agree the majority of threads and posts on here are about FFing for trout. The posts above prove that a good many PAFFers fish for other species besides trout. They just don't get as much "ink" as the trout do on here. I'm not sure why that is, but all types of FFing stories, info and reports are welcome.
It's almost like allot of them were in the closet before this thread hahaha

I choose what species I'm going to fish based on the time of year for the most part. Mainly Largies and smallies during the warmer months with musky, carp, and trout sprinkled in. Colders months mainly trout with pike and musky sprinkled in. During spring and fall it's not uncommon for me to go smallmouth one day, trout the next day, musky the day after

I am planning to go try to catch a walleye tonight on the fly. I might report back.

Kinda glad the other species don't get as much ink - keeps the riff raff off those waterways 😉.

WW fishing gives me a lot of opportunity on less crowded waters, when trout fishing isn't great (summer), and I can do it a lot closer to home. It's nothing to drive 15 min for a couple hours of great bass and walleye fishing. For me to get to stocked trout streams without crowds is a minimum of an hour drive, good trout streams are more like 2-3 hr drive.

A 15" trout sipping a dry fly is nice but a 15" smallmouth exploding on a popper...I know which one I prefer.

My father-in-law caught a big walleye behind the Gibson Hotel on Pine Creek many years ago... probably on a slate drake.
Catching a walleye on a dry fly is something I have never heard of before. If I lived in the northern midwest, I'd be one of those hardcore walleye anglers out there on the lakes all of the time.

I started last night on a mouse, and had three explosive hits but did not land any. They could have been bass, but the walleye were chasing baitfish to the surface. I did get a few walleye waking my streamers across the surface with twitches and pauses, they would come up and slam it.
