>>>What Are You Tying Today? Part V

Very nice! I've tied the same using a FO bead and have caught many on that color bead. Cracks me up that Fluorescent Orange (FO) color isn't in any stream bug that I've seen....but they work!
Jim Teeny started tying his nymph pattern using white thread. It created a "hot spot" but not for the fish but so the angler could better follow the fly in the water, and he has gone to fl. orange as well.

Also, a long time ago I read that orange comes into its own during fall fishing. It was related to the lower sun angle. I have found it to be true (or maybe I'm just luckier in the fall!

Here's an example - my STP Para Loop design.

It's simply a standard paraloop with poly on a split thread dub used in place of the standard dry fly hackle. The picture does not show the dun poly as well as it should - tied with a 2:1 to 3:1 dun to orange mix.

Been battling these on a size 14 all morning. I might have yelled a few times.

The tail is too high and the backend is thicker than I want, but I'm at least content enough to stop with this one. The others will fish, but they ain't pretty.

Don't worry! I tie the way my day looks, I look in the mirror and the rest of the day I tie ugly flies!

Realized I was out of these and getting low on my black stoneflies when I was out this week, so its time to restock the fly box.

Keep the right proportions and get a good drift and you can catch fish on a ball of dryer lint.....I've done it just to prove the point to someone.

Couple of jigs for tomorrow .

If you’re driving along the road and pass that fresh looking roadkill (maybe even still quivering), don’t pass it up. You may find a critter with a patch of skin that you can cure up and it will tie a lot of flies for you. Ringneck pheasant - rusty rump feathers, pheasant marabou feathers, blue/green back feathers all with an attached philo plume … the options are endless!!

What’s the proportions on a ball of dryer lint? 😉

I always found that 2 parts underwear and 3 parts colored with a pinch of jeans! 🙃
All depends on if you're going for a natural or an attractor pattern.......
