This version is squirl wings/tail and peacock herl/wire rib body around the hackles. I tie another version I like better but don’t have a pic of where I swap the tail for marabou and the hackles in front of the wing for twice as long soft saddle hackle that pulses.

If you like night flies you ever tie the pickets pin?
Cool fly! Reminds me of my much-loved Stimulator, but on steroids.

I use Gurglers - and will use the Tuscan Bunnies - for stillwater bass fishing during the daylight hours. I don't get out at night much, but I should do more of that

Just getting ready for spring and summer.

Nice ties! What is the Clouser type pattern in the top of your last photo and what materials did you use to tie them? I like the look of them but it’s a bit hard to really make out the details with a bunch of them there all together.

Top calf’s tail and magnum rabbit strip (trim the rabbit to go over eyes)
Bottom is just calf’s tail .

Nice! That’s a good look. Thanks for the additional photos. That could be a great Striper pattern in white and chartreuse.

The pattern is in Bob’s book Fly-Fishing For Smallmouth . I have caught bass , walleye , drum , and carp using it .

Staying on the stimulator theme. First time I ever tied one. Size 14.

Great job, for your first ever Stimmie! Size 14 is not the easiest size hook to tie one on for sure. I’ve always enjoyed tying them and I tie them mostly in size 12 and 14. 14’s are an absolutely great brookie fly. Also a great all around fly for the top end of a dry-dropper set up. Very nice work!

Finally got into that tin of demolished flies that we all seem to have but rarely gets addressed. Blading off a few retired Stimulators that have paid their dues and spinning up a few new ones.

Just got done doing the same thing with a couple of old flyboxes I have. Got tired of scratching away at the old thread and glue and started burning them off over a candle first...makes the job a lot easier and doesn't mess up the hook if you dont get it too hot. Downside is that I usually have to do it out in the shed or incur the wrath of the boss.....the aroma of burnt hair and feathers doesn't appeal to her for some reason!
