I never tried to post fly pics, but with my retirement pending 12/31 I may have to get with the program!
Keep em coming everyone.
Congrats on your pending retirement, Darby. Posting photos is really simple with the new site format. Looking forward to seeing some of your creations at the vise!

Can you share the materials you used?

As I mentioned in my original post this is a Kelly Galloup pattern and if you Google on “tying a peanut envy” and go to the videos you’ll find a YouTube video of Kelly tying this streamer. The video is fairly lengthy (44 minutes) but Kelly is very entertaining and is a detailed tyer. He incorporates a lot of commentary in with his tying videos and much of it is very informative. His videos are well worth the time to watch them. Kelly ties these streamers for the big meat eating trout that they target out west when floating the larger rivers. I’m also thinking that this streamer would be a very effective Smallmouth pattern here in the East. I would think they would also be great tied in black, brown, white and yellow.

BTW Jim, great ties from you in Kim’s last fly swap. Thanks for the BWO bonus fly. Very nicely done!

Thanks for the compliments and the details on the materials. I’ve watched a few of Kelly’s videos for his Sex Dungeon streamer. I tried to tie it but couldn’t get the spun deer head correct. I like the cone head fly you tied better. I’m inspired to give the Peanut a try.

Saying that any Kelly Galloup video "is a bit lengthy" is like saying that there is SOME water in the Atlantic! He does know his stuff and I loved his series on grading hackle (as well as many of his other videos) but he talks like I write!! :giggle:

From the book - I discovered the two preceding patterns in Washington State where they were being used as bass flies. It was some years later before I learned they were originally intended for steelhead.
