How would anyone know if you got blue jay feathers from your back yard or from a supply house?

DNA after the execution of the search warrant

And that is what I would expect from our government as a good use of my tax dollars.
DNA sequencing of PA Blue Jays to arrest a guy tying flies that value less than 1 dollar! God Bless America!!!!

(Dear IRS: Note sarcasm….)

A bit of a funky Kaufmann's. I vividly remember the first time I purchased some of these, and I thought: "Now that's a fly I will always buy."

It just seemed to have so much going on. I'm happy to even roughly get it.

I hate to stand up for government red tape but the jay feathers you'd buy would be from the Eurasian Jay - not native to the US and are legally harvested and can be sold in the US. The feather is similar to, but not the same as the US's blue jay.

I've never tied anything with a Blue Jay's feather. I made the post out of curiosity more than anything else. I would suppose it's not legal to pick up a dead Blue Jay's carcass from....wherever one may find such a thing....and use those feathers for tying? Protected birds are that for a reason.
