Split Wing March Brown.

No hackle? Looks like split antron (or similar wings). Seems like it would be tough to keep that one afloat? Any other info you can share about this pattern?

Bead Head Hare's Ear this morning. Size 16, some with wire, some with tinsel. Black Nickel tungsten bead and a little lead to make them still heavier.

Too cold to head for the river so far today. Brassies I posted earlier worked on a couple of Lackawanna browns Friday.

Steve, thats a "thorax style" pattern (minus hackle) they ride low in the film and when greased they float fine.

I call this one a re-purposed hare's ear:

Hook: #10 nymph salvaged from a tree. (strip remnants of old fly off)
Underbody: lead wraps
Thread: Uni grey 6/0
Tail: guard hairs from clump of rabbit fur found on my driveway
Rib: french tinsel - gold
Abdomen and Thorax: loosely dubbed rabbit fur found on driveway
Wing case: tail feather from road-killed jake
Head/hot spot: Uni chartreuse 6/0

Understand the pattern style Mo. Thought the wing material minus hackle may be tough to float. I've come to hate March Browns. See them all over Penns and never see a fish eat one.

Is there open water on Muddy?

Nice looking ties!

Thanks djs. I haven't tied much lately and feel like my skills have deteriorated. Your tying skills have definitely improved since you started. Always like to see what you've posted.

Last one today. Just another #10 hare's ear variation that I intend to use as an anchor fly. Keeping with the repurposed theme, the tail on this one is red squirrel from a piece of a tail that my dad picked up on a walk a couple years ago. Forgot I had the stuff 'til I was going through my materials today. I also mixed some of the very spikey tail hairs with some dark hare's ear dubbing. Again, I've been adding hot spots to a to a lot of my nymphs.

Cotton candy for the trout........

Need to sit and try some of those. I had one or two and when nothing else was working, they got hammered.

Nice. I like the road kill/re-purposed hare's ear. I've often tried to salvage flies I found in trees, but usually the hooks have corroded pretty badly by the time I find them.

You guys are cranking out some good looking stuff. FI what is the material you aye useing for the sucker spawn?

Not sure what it's called as I tossed the packets. Here's what it looks like. Sucker spawn is bright yellow and I use a mix of these two materials to get the flashy egg appearance.
