Top 10 Trout Streams in PA (only name brands)

The purpose of famous streams is to draw fishermen away from the really good streams.
True. But many of those famous streams are really good streams, and that's why they're famous and lure people away from all of the other good streams.

We should all stop talking about the other streams..... The only streams worth fishing in the state are the 10 in the OP's list, unless you want to only catch stockies for a few weeks..😜

If you are just fishing for content. You should start a poll and use 10 of the most obvious streams. Readers will be happy to rank them and ague over those rankings.

How many Trout Brooks are there in PA. Most states in trout territory have a bunch of them.

In PA, small streams are most commonly referred to as "runs."

In New England, the term "brook" is much more commonly used than in PA.

I prefer “draft” or “hollow” to both personally. But most of those are tiny, typically first order, streams.

Yo, Swattie! What streams in PA are labeled as a "draft." That is a new one to me!

Where I hail from, we have lots of "runs." If a stream is pretty small, it is probably a run. We don't have any streams labeled as "branches" around me, and larger streams are generally referred to as a creek by name.

Look at some of the tribs around Wykoff Run, and/or around Quehanna wild area.

Though there’s other places. But that’s the first place that comes to mind for me.

Geography Trivia: How many streams in Pennsylvania are unnamed?
Dear Dave,

On a side note, how many mine acid impaired streams, otherwise known as Schitt Cricks, are there in PA?

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂

Looking through my 2010 copy of Class A Wild Trout Waters, which is obviously dated, there were 10 stream names that end with Branch, and interestingly, only 2 that end in Brook. As you'd assume, there were a LOT of Hollows, and Runs. I'm sure this has changed at least slightly by now.
