Saltwater Fly Swap

If the numbers stay low, I have no problem tying two different patterns. Means we get a better selection back to try out!

probably doing some clouser derivative and a beach comber.

If we do two, I'll be going with a mushmouth and some sort of hollow fleye

jay348,
very nice silicone mullet pattern. do some with gray back too. almost mullet time now maybe a month to go.. All black is good for night fishing retrieve as slow as possible..

Thanks sandfly. I'm in oc md at the moment and they got a test swim this morning. I like how they look...no fish tho.

Today will be the last day to join. I'll send out PMs tomorrow night when
I get back home.

Room for 1 more? I didn't count the "yes" replies.

Not a problem...count yourself in.

With that, I'll say the swap is officially closed. My count is as follows:

1. jay348
2. marcq
3. GRP
4. Fred
5. Sniper
6. PhilC
7. ebroesicke

(Let me know if i missed anybody)

Since we only wound up with 8, I'll stick with the idea of

a) pick two patterns and tie 7 of each (14 total for each tier), or
b) just tie 14 of one pattern for each tier.

As always, any extras will go to the mods who keep this place up and running. My apologies for the delay...PMs will go out shortly.

Looking forward to seeing these flies!

PMs sent. Let me know if you didnt get the info. My PMs have been spotty lately, so I'll resend if I need to.

Going with a standard Surf Candy (chart. over white superhair) for my first fly, nothing fancy but durable...starting tying a few last night.
I haven't decided on the second fly yet...

Missed me , so we have 9
thanks ahead of time for the swap

Damn sorry wetfly! I even sent you a PM haha...fixed now.

I just missed you on my list in the post, so I think the number of flies is still correct for 8 tiers.

Think I'll do a crease fly and maybe an eel punt.

Here the peanut that I tie. Just bucktail and some flash. I might put clear cure goo on the head to make it last alittle longer. Haven't figured out my second pattern yet. Might do asaddle sand eel or epoxy.

Hey, I finished my Surf Candies...trying to decide what to tie next

Can people post up their patterns (or at least the ones you know you're tying)...so we can figure out what to tie and not duplicate?

Good call Phil...I'll go back through the posts and add known patterns to the swap list. I'll update it as patterns are posted.

First fly is going to be Beast master general

crab flies, shrimp, worm flies philc...

This is what I was thinking for my second pattern. It's an adult sand eel. It about 4 1/2 to 5 inches. About the same size as the big sandies you find on island beach.

Alittle motivation

Already itching to get out there this fall.

So i tried to update the list with known patterns:

1. jay348 - silicone mullet (yellow/white), 2nd pattern tbd
2. marcq - peanut bunker and adult sand eel
3. GRP - mushmouth and hollow fleye
4. Fred - Gartside BMG
5. Sniper - clouser derivative and a beach comber
6. PhilC - surf candy
7. ebroesicke - crease fly and (maybe) an eel punt.
8. wetflyguy - sand eel

I'm sure this will change somewhat; but for now, it should help out in chosing patterns.
