Blatant Advertisement! Everything's out of focus, Lousy video.

i am not looking for courtesy hugs and congratulatory statements. i don't mind if you did not enjoy the video.. i don't like it compared to my other 3 ive posted.. least favorite actually. (END)

I am trying to understand this paragraph....Why would anyone put out a photo or video if they were not looking for some type of hug other than trying to sell a product. You statement of "least favorate". has a worry all in it's own.
I hope you are not trolling.

Anyways, keep practicing your videoing and one day soon you will post one that all (hopefully) will appreciate.

I've said this before, but I believe that some folks get very, uh, "negative nancy" anytime they get a wiff of someone becoming "self promoting". I've only been on this board a relatively short amount of time compared to some others (IE-I wasn't here from the start),but the people I've seen get the most heat have been people who have "owned" some kind of brand or company and are looking for good, cheap adverstisement. I ain't talkin' about the dudes who pay to buy ads and all that. They escape the wrath because they're playing by the rules of the sight. But if I think about the history of this sight, it's guys like the Johnny Utahs and others who are here to increase their name recognition, their ad revenue, their brand who get the heat.

I still don't know what "Slinger Fly Rods" are, but I've seen Slinger aroudn this sight and never felt like he was sellin' something.

ill be honest and I have the private messages to prove it if anyone would like them forwarded.. I've been contacted by a few people on this site about building them fly rods. I have not made an attempt to sell or build one for anyone due to the fact that I am not a paid sponsor of the site.

I have given my opinion on numerous private messages what a particular rod said person is interested in would run, and that's usually where it ends.. I can see now why that video could be doing more harm than good.

if I were to sell a fly rod to someone on here, I would immediately pay for a sponsorship. I really do not have the time to do it, its more a hobby then anything.. I would go into the history of how/why I started doing it, but there again is..... self promotion.

my objective is to fish as many wild/natural repro/class A troutstreams that I can possibly fish, while trying to capture/create videos and memories to for the lack of better words "show it off"

that's all I can simply do is state that I am trying to make videos to show off what I can do. that's why we post pictures and videos right?

I have my own business outside of slinger. I cut/fabricate and install granite and marble countertops.... fishing is a hobby, so are pictures and videos... getting signed up for some team by orvis or simms or ross wouldn't help me at all.. its not something I could pick up full time.

hope you all understand now what I was attempting to do, and im sorry it's gone to this point thus far.. I really didn't mean for it to be an advertisement to sell anything

Lol Utah

That was magical times.

Tell me about the granite business. You should make a video on that using your drone to video the cnc machines. How about a video of the guys hiking the 500lb pieces up 2 flights of steps when their is snow and ice on the ground. It is definitely not a job I miss doing.

LOL believe it or not my cnc was the first thing I flew around inside my facility while it was running.. damn near crashed it into the spindle.. then my wife said play with my toy outside.

I usually stay at the shop and program the CNC for table loads, and cut jobs ahead to run my machine.. thus. my computer free time... just enough time to get my in trouble..

my granite installers are beasts.. I don't envy carrying stone into customers homes anymore..

sometime when you edit a video it looks great on your home editing computer, but once you throw it up on a website like vimeo or youtube they change compression and framerates and such to fit their frameworks.. sometimes parts of the video ends up choppy like this one did.. so in a sense it was a test on multiple parts, but one that i had to post to find out.

that's all I can simply do is state that I am trying to make videos to show off what I can do. that's why we post pictures and videos right?

Firstly, glad to hear DEP got back to you about the leaky pipes.

And just as an observation on the direction of this thread....reading your first blurb I quoted above, couldn't you have done all of that, and then maybe not shared it with the forum? Especially in light of you're apparantly not being too happy with it yourself? Just because you posted it to Vimeo or Youtube doesn't mean that you have to then post about it here. And then mix that with the second blurb you wrote (my highlighting added)....and you get this thread.

Looking forward to your future efforts, there's some potential there.

Oh great, now you are trying to sell counter-tops, too?

I'm joking of course.

But now I really feel guilty.

The first steer that I sent in for slaughter? I sold a quarter of it to someone from this site. I didn't have to, but he asked.

It is true and I feel so dirty now.

Dave, I owe you a hamburger.

Now that I think if it, I also hired someone from this site to do some carpentry work for me. Dang, now I feel really bad.

Dave, make it a hamburger and a beer.

I did have some people who thought it was good. I'm typically always apprehensive about posting stuff to begin with. I got some good responses on facebook so didn't really think twice until after reading all of the comments here that came straight from the heart lol that I knew truly what it was I was looking at.

Just don't do it on this forum.....give him a PM

Hey, Penny, where did your power to issues orders come from?

I want to join the cool crowd and do random updates of random things on here. My wife is upstairs and kids are outside playing. That is all.

Do you need any computer work done? :)

They say sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. I say it's not witty at all.

FD - Okay I'll take you up on that. A least by the spring jam!

Chaz - Guess this is the shoot first and then shoot again approach. Can't wait for your video production.

^ Good post by The Squatch. There has been a long list of guys that come on here to promote their wares and get free advertising. Anyone posting something with logos or banners or links to a commercial site is a red flag to members as well as the Moderators. Anyway, I'm sure your video was innocent and if it just showed a typical day on the stream without any of the other stuff, there still would be criticism, but a lot less...lol.

We try to keep commercialism out ot the general forum. It's not always that easy. We created the "Shop Talk" forum for legitimate advertiser to communicate with the members while keeping out of the general forum.

Time to go back to talkin' about fishin'....that's what it's supposed to be all about.

Like i stated before I'm going to be doing a video of my friend Kimberly Snyder out of King George, VA (lady hunter magazine) attempting to learn how to fly fish and get on some fish, no matter what size or stream.

i would like to see if anyone would be interested in helping out? Maybe show some of you I'm not really that big of a....... well.. you know what i mean.

Going to be done end of august (weather allowing) and shouldn't take more than a few hours to get the footage were looking for.

PM me if you are interested in helping.

and until then, ill work on another video (ad free).. i PROMISE

I am also just learning to use my video camera and editing. My video is made for my own enjoyment and it is amateurish I am sure.
Here is a video I made. Hope the link works because I am just learning this stuff. Have at it you vicious critics. I have nothing for sale and nothing to lose.

Loved it. a bunch of very nice fish and no frills video. the purist approach should not be criticized. nor should the OP's. He did what he thought was cool for his video, its better than my video that doesnt exist. :)

Slinger, my only complaint would have been all the commercials. However, I didn't view those as self promotion by you unless you own Simms or Orvis...

I think that is fair criticism.

I believe that is what most of the complaints were about.

About this Kimberly Snyder thing. I wouldn't be interested in the fishing thing, but if she needed a place to hunt in OHio...
