I love fallfish! Great contention for a fly rod! On Monday I picked up quite a few on French. Fought harder and looked better than the color-lacking stocked trout. These fish were close to 12 inches and FAT. I bet they are easily out-eating the stocked fish. Got another 12 incher yesterday on a red dart (Lance Egan pattern, great fly!). Most memorable catch of the day.Fall fish can also fall into the huge native category. They are an under appreciated game fish on fly. It can stay that way quite honestly because I am ok with having countless river miles of 5-18” hard fighting fish that you can swing wets, strip streamers, nymph, and occasionally throw dry flies to.

I have a stream local to me where I targeted them exclusively. I'll never forget bagging one slightly north of 16 inches on a Morrish hopper. Took him on a ST Croix Legend Ultra 5wt 9ft, my first fly rod that has LONG since left my collection. Can't say I ever bagged one as large as the one in your photo, great catch!
