Being a novice fly tyer, I found this article interesting.
It's from Fly Fisherman Magazine, dated Oct 16, 2015:

Fly Fishing the Hendrickson Hatch

Original Hendrickson tied by Roy Steenrod

A modern Hendrickson, tied by the Dette shop’s Joe Fox, has a
100-year lineage through Walt and Winnie Dette to Roy Steenrod.

Lastly it mentions a book that looks interesting: "Tying Catskill-Style Dry Flies" by Mike Valla.

Good read Bob. Thanks for posting this.
Although interesting ties. I would be hard pressed not to tie Flicks red quill. I think mainly due to my own personal experience. The first hatch I ever fished in my life was a hendrickson hatch. That was about 41 yrs. ago. The red quill worked well for me then and works well now. But all that being said. What you posted is a fly of great history.

GenCon

The Hendrickson was also the first mayfly hatch I fished back in the early 70's. Like GenCon, I found the red quill pattern out fishes the Light Hendrickson pattern. After examining some male duns, I added 2-3 wraps of red thread behind the eye to imitate the eye color. Made a good pattern even better.
