Body - Peacock herl

I can envision this fly at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood going down the red carpet before it received a one of this Year’s Best Dressed (Fly) Actor Awards. 😊

My friend found it amoung his deceased brother-inlaws possessions and gave it to me, other than that I don't know anything about it. It appears that it was packaged to sale somewhere , maybe a fly shop in the Ligonier area?
That's so interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Did you happen to watch The New Fly Fisher as inspiration for this pattern? Mark Melnyk was using this fly to catch Cutthroat Trout in Wyoming on a recent episode.

A bulletproof nymph to get down in the water column in a hurry. I put a slotted tungsten bead on curved shank nymph hook with some more added weight underneath. Positioned the bead up higher on the hook shank. Not sure how it’s going to ride. It might ride upside down, maybe right side up or even sideways? I honestly don’t think it matters at all if I can down where they’re actively nymphing I’m pretty sure they’ll eat it.

I really like that fly, and especially the body color of that Polish quill.

You do say the tail is wood duck, as is the wing. The tail appears to be more white than I’d have thought it would be though. Is that the case?

I did not but I’ll keep my eye out for it.

I think it’s partly lighting but the tail fibers were stripped from the lower paler washed out part of the same feather used for the wing.

Charles Campbell of Wall Street, New York, a lifelong member of the Beaverkill Trout Club, is the person from whom this fly got its name. Campbell was an old friend and customer of Reuben Cross. The Campbell's Fancy at one time was rated high on the Beaverkill for about two weeks around the first part of May, and curiously enough, nothing else would take its place.
