Short Fibers on Craft Fur

I bought a bunch of craft fur from either Joanne’s or Michael’s intending to tie some streamers. The fibers turned out to be too short. Any suggestions as to what I can use it for?

What's the backing material? Could it work as Zonker strips?

Where do you pick up craft fur with longer faux fur?

If you buy craft fur specifically sold for fly tying, you'll get usable length for Clousers, etc. up to 3" overall. The big supply houses like Hareline and Wapsi are generally reliable in this regard. I have a whole drawer full of craft store fur that is useless for anything bigger than about a size #6.

Not a great solution but you could tie some flies on shanks of various lengths in an intruder two stage style. It gives you a longer sparser fly using shorter fibers.
