I have purchased a new Ross reels fly rod. I love small stream fishing and few good rods are made these days that seem to suit my needs. I have been disappointed by other manufacturers 7.5 and under rods. Many of the rods are actually underlined by their recommended line. If you are having accuracy problems and loop control issues due to excessive speed. You may need to go with a heavier line weight even if the manufacturer says it's a 4 wt. put on a 5. I also find myself shortening my leader back to gain accuracy for an underlined rod.
Back to the story. The Essence FW 7.5 for 4 wt teamed with the Fly Rise reel has made for an outstanding over acheiving outfit for the price. I would recommend this rod to anyone. Is it the very best small stream rod ever. No, however for the price it is a very functional fishing tool. I am very pleased.
