Yesterday I attended the Valley Forge TU trout show, which has very good attendance in very tight quarters. What annoys me is that folks tend to stand around the raffle tables and it can be very difficult to even get a decent opportunity to view what is there. I hate crowds so I just gave up. Did have a nice conversation with Dave Rothrock after his presentation, which made it worthwhile to go.

Yesterday was youth trout fishing day in MD. There were more adults fishing than youth in the place where my grandchildren were fishing.

You're not surprised by this are you? A couple of years ago I just happens to go up to the Breeches to fish and it just happened to be Youth Day in PA. I walked around the lake and saw numerous parents fishing. They had 2 and 3 year olds sitting/sleeping in strollers (in some cases even younger) using them to catch a couple of limits.

Honest officer, Danny Almonte is my real name.

Had that very conversation with someone last week, while stocking the Tully. He approached me and asked me what I thought about the program, which I am not opposed to. I told him I don"t have a problem with it other than the adults SHOULD NOT be fishing at all, other than assisting the kids. He was opposed to the kids having a day set aside the week before opening day. That being said, I often wonder how much that program actually does get kids involved in fishing, or the outdoors in general.

Exactly why I think adults should not be allowed to fish that day.

It's probably the only way they can catch their limit of trout. A real accomplishment...

I'm too old to document my pet peeves. I let go of them 5 years ago. The last I let go is the guy from another part of the state or another state thinking that giving me 10-20 yards distance from fishing from me "is giving me a lot of room"

35,000-45,000 kids participating per year in Pa and years for a kid to participate before needing to buy the first annual license says to me that there’s a good chance that the day is producing some lifetime anglers.
