You're not surprised by this are you? A couple of years ago I just happens to go up to the Breeches to fish and it just happened to be Youth Day in PA. I walked around the lake and saw numerous parents fishing. They had 2 and 3 year olds sitting/sleeping in strollers (in some cases even younger) using them to catch a couple of limits.

Had that very conversation with someone last week, while stocking the Tully. He approached me and asked me what I thought about the program, which I am not opposed to. I told him I don"t have a problem with it other than the adults SHOULD NOT be fishing at all, other than assisting the kids. He was opposed to the kids having a day set aside the week before opening day. That being said, I often wonder how much that program actually does get kids involved in fishing, or the outdoors in general.

35,000-45,000 kids participating per year in Pa and years for a kid to participate before needing to buy the first annual license says to me that there’s a good chance that the day is producing some lifetime anglers.
