I agree with the statement that just because you can do something...
However, I believe that, for average casting distances, it's about as easy, or nearly so, as with a rod supposedly designed for the lighter line. Again, the application of good casting mechanics comes into play here.
Let's not confuse casting mechanics with style. Style isn't a factor unless it's a limiting style. An example of limiting style would be casting almost solely using the wrist.
