Orvis wader repair service

Curious if anyone has ever used Orvis's wader repair service, and how it worked out? They say the service cost is $60, which sounds very reasonable. I always put a thick towel down to stand on when I'm getting into and out of my waders, so I believe the booties are OK. I can't find anything resembling a possible leak location anywhere on my Ultralight Convertible waders. I'd rather not drive myself nuts trying to find where a leak might be, so this sounded like a reasonable option. Thanks for any insight.

I've had waders repaired by Simms and another custom wader maker but never by Orvis. They both did their job, so I suspect Orvis will do the same. My only question based on your post is what is included in the $ 60.00 charge? Do they just patch a leak, or do they patch any leaks and put new booties on and reseal them. If they do the latter then that seems like an absolute bargain price.

One last thing you can try before you send them away is to take the waders into a dark room in your house, a hall bathroom without a window is ideal. Turn the lights off and stick a Mag-lite or similar small flashlight in the waders and check for light leaks. A light leak equals a wader leak.

Not really sure what is included for the $60 repair. I will try your suggestion with the flashlight though. Much appreciated. Believe it or not, it's the first time I've ever had Orvis waders leak. These are four years old, so I guess they don't owe me anything. I'm trying to avoid spending $300 for new ones though.

I have a pair in Orvis’s hands right now waiting on them to respond if there going to fix them ,replace them , or give me a credit or what not, not really expecting a total freebie as in I know things wear out things break down etc if I hear back from them in a reasonable time I’ll let you know what they say

If you do not want to send them back, I had good luck with the Simms method- turn them inside out and spray with rubbing alcohol. Leaks will show up as dark spots, apply Aquaseal as necessary.

Mine were separated or punctured at the felt boot line and would squirt water 18 inches into the air no problem finding it so they got sent back

While $60 sounds fair to me and I would bet the outcome will be good, can they be dropped off at an Orvis store to at least save you on the outbound freight?

You know, like Haverford Orvis...

You could always wear a disguise in case they read past PAFF posts...

FWIW -

The alcohol method of finding leaks has only worked on real Goretex waders for me.
And I dont think any Orvis waders are made out of that

FWIW I took mine to where I bought them International Anglers they are an Orvis dealer outside Pittsburgh

Ive had a pair of orvis pro waders that i wear mostly in the colder months nov thru march. 4 yrs now and they are still leak free..pain 600 dollars for them. Box says lifetime warranty.. so im not sure if they would be replaced...or repaired should leak or whatever can happen..has anyone on here had a experience with tho orvis pro waders return policy??

Mine are the Clearwater waders life time warranty also waiting to hear back from Orvis but they only got sent out last Tuesday so it’s early yet
