Endless Winter.

It doesnt even feel cold on the non windy days now. I was out grilling steaks and playing ball with my dog and the neighbors dog after dark last night

Thought the same running some stuff out to the mailbox last night. We’ve acclimatized. Means it’s time for Spring to show up.

I don't mind cold weather at all when it is not windy. I despise wind, which is why I started a thread the other day just to say that.

It isn't bad out, though, but I am definitely looking forward to that warm-up of many degrees by next week. BRING IT ON!!!

The poetry reminded me of my favorite winter poet, Ezra Pound:

(sorry about the Middle English)

Winter is icumen in

Winter is icumen in,
Lhude sing Goddamm,
Raineth drop and staineth slop,
And how the wind doth ramm!
Sing: Goddamm.
Skiddeth bus and sloppeth us,
An ague hath my ham.
Freezeth river, turneth liver,
Damm you; Sing: Goddamm.
Goddamm, Goddamm, 'tis why I am, Goddamm,
So 'gainst the winter's balm.
Sing goddamm, damm, sing goddamm,
Sing goddamm, sing goddamm, DAMM.

The weather is predicted to turn warmer next week. Hopefully the warming trend will continue into March and spring weather will be finally be here in PA.
And we have never know a weather forecast to be incorrect - right?

If I was wrong at my job as often as the weathermen are wrong I'd have been fired on day 2.

I know we have all either made this kind of comment or have heard others make these comments, but let's not forget that these people aren't wrong intentionally. We should not defame weather forecasters or their service to society. These people try to bring us the best weather forecast possible with the science and the tools currently available to them.

Do they get it wrong? Sometimes, but they have made vast improvements over the years, and they give us a very good idea of what the next several days to a week will look like, and that is important. There is no doubt that weather prediction is better now than it has ever been, and I am sure that it will only continue to get better in the coming decades.

My comment was tongue-in-cheek. I do appreciate what they do especially when terrible, life threatening weather is approaching.

However, when they are wrong it's usually when I relied on them for fishing trip plans☺️

For the 1st time in my life instead of strictly donating, after a plethora of beverages, I got goaded into doing a charity plunge into a lake......next Saturday! Oh well, it's not like I've never fallen into cold water before.

I sure hope the organizers have their axes ready to cut the hole!

I often wonder how often they are really wrong vs. how often they are wrong because their boss tells them to sensationalize storms for 1) ratings and more importantly 2) to spur business for their sponsors like food store chains. The bills need to get paid somehow.

People just need to realize that our weather has become much more erratic/intense and more difficult to predict with accuracy, regardless of technological advancements. Wether or not climate change, which is very real, is to blame will be argued until the cows come home.

As someone who worked in tv news, the weather people are the most laid back, almost nerdy of the lot. They have a lot of expensive tools. And they'll be the first to tell you that, outside of 36 hours, forecasting is a crapshoot. It's weather. It changes. Constantly. Now if they give the weather to a beat reporter to cover...it's gonna be snowmageddon!

For me, the weather is gonna be what it is when I walk outside. Still going. So buckle up and hang on. If that's not you, stay home. I'll be back when I'm done doing what I gotta do.

I very much doubt their bosses tell them to sensationalize storms for any reason, mainly because schools and businesses rely on forcasting to determine if there's a need for closures/cancellations.
