I’m honestly curious about these. I’m curious if anyone has broke one and had success fixing it streamside. I love the idea of it. But a two mile walk back to the car with only one shoe tied sounds like no fun.

What is your plan for a break?
Do they come with spare wire?
Is it possible to replace one on the stream?

If I was really in a bind I would grab some backing off my reel and tie the boots up. They sell kits to replace the boa system. Someone(I think Swattie) carries the replacement kit with them on the water.

I've never had one break. I noticed one beginning to fray after about 3 years of use. I contacted BOA, got the free replacement kit and changed it in 10 minutes while watching TV.
If I should happen to have one break streamside, I figure I'll be equipped with line, scissors and knot tying knowledge. I'll figure it out for that day.

If you wrap duct tape a bunch of times around a bic lighter and throw it in a small zip-lock. You have waterproof fire kindling, fire starter and handyman repair kit all in one.
