I see the caddisflyer was a joke about another one of his posts. Ha
These are the videos I enjoy the most. It's the visual aspect that makes it fun to watch. If it's dry fly fishing and you can see the take...great.
yeah, I did consider doing this to, I may add that... I do have a small tripod and phone holder. thanksOne thing you can do is utilize your phone as a second viewpoint. The camera is equal too if not better than go pro. Get a cheap tripod for the phone and position it on the bank. I sometimes film fishing for funsies but only when I have a lot of time.
thanks, yeah by that time, I had been fishing for 2-3 hours, so I was tired of hiking and fishing...You did a nice job for your first video. I was hoping you would have fished that next nice pool upstream of your last stop.
yeah, you know I may try to shoot in 4k or 2.7k so that I can zoom in for the dry fly take, I also enjoy that part, but without the extra resolution, it will get fuzzy when you do the zoom on the software side.Nice video. Beautiful scenery.
But I don't get the point of nymphing videos. Just seeing a stretch of water, and hearing "there's a fish" followed by a bent rod doesn't do it for me. If it's instructional then I get that there is something to watch for or learn. If it's dry fly fishing and you can see the take...great.
Just my opinion. Enjoy your outings and filming hobby.
thanks for the input, @DaveKile I guess the video is for people like me, who enjoy sitting on the couch when they can't get out and fish to watch a relaxing video. A few famous you tubers I like are Hardman Fishing Adventures, and Tenkara Addict. Typically their Videos are less than 10 minutes... I also don't like the epic length, high production movies, I tend to skip through most of them.@JeremyW With photos or video I like to think out what is the purpose of my project. Is it a story or educational? What is anyone trying to say with a video? Who is the video for? I think about a beginning/intro, middle and close. What challenges did some one have, how did they overcome those issues and what do they learn. A side surprise is always fun, like if you saw a big foot or something.
I'm not a huge fan of long fly fishing videos. There are some people that work on these videos and make them 40 mins long. With my adult ADD, there is no way I watching something that long.
In my experience with videos is audio is a very important part of the final project, if not the most important. So for example, during your car ride a good quality voice over share the intro of what you are doing would be important. People are able to produce some pretty high quality videos today. Sometimes some simple titling helps too.
PA Fly fishing Vlogging is a pretty crowded space right now. I thinking about doing a video story for my fishing experiences in May this year. I won't be Vlogging posts because I don't have the time, interest and like I said there are enough people doing this kind of stuff already. More of a personal project.
Good luck
These are my two favorites to watch, especially since they do a lot of native brookie fishing.I enjoy Hardman fishing adventures at times and Woolybugged.
