Remeber folks the more you add the heavier that fly weighs, one less turn of thread, a little less dubbing it might float for ever...

Good point Bob....I would add that using foam for the post does nothing for the fly's bouyancy. Because the foam is not in the water. It is all up to the hackle and tail to suspend the fly.

Good point! Some of those foam posts are rather heavy! Closed cell foam can make the parachute "tippy" or land upside down.
 
I use foam and synthetics like z-lon. I've also used the Para Post stuff with good results. To get good results with the Para Post, try the knotty parachute.
