Surf Fishing

NJ beaches had albies in the surf yesterday. Lots of blues too. :-D

I think the albies are the best fighting fish lb/lb! Glad you got into them.

IBSP has a little bit of everything as well. At the end of the beach is Barnegat Inlet where you can fish the jetty and also you can walk/kayak around in the back bay area if the fish are crusing around in there.

I have been there several times and have only once been able to catch anything on my fly rod and that was small snapper blues. Still fun though.

The only problem with IBSP is that to reach the end near the inlet you need to drive on the beach and that willl cost $50 for a weekend pass. It is a long walk from the end of the road. You can walk on at other spots like the popular Gilkin's (sp?) access.

I am up for going anywhere though.

Fredrick and I fished IBSP last fall and did the long walk to the North Jetty. Here's the report:

Here is my report from Sandy Hook last fall

Boy, wish I could get to the NJ shore this week. :-(

I rarely have good luck trying to time the fall run of false albacore but if you live close, there are lots of reports of albie blitzes along the beaches right now. Now is prime time for albies and they usually stick around for another month or so.
Wow:

Its to bad that they look just out of reach for a fly rod :-(
