Stream "devoid" of fish

I almost never see fish before I catch them. I know they’re there sometimes They just don’t bite. I watched a brook trout swim straight in between and underneath to small rocks and just disappear. I never would’ve guessed a fish could fit in between two rocks that small. He just disappeared literally under the rocks. That’s why the old-timers used to say all the fish are just hiding under the rocks.
