Stomach Contents

If you are serious, then my reply is that all the guides I know and have fished with "out west" would make them the butt of every joke if they caught a fellow guide pumping fish stomachs.
Maybe it's high time we knocked these "out west" guides off their pedestal? Next time you catch one pumping a stomach say, "You wouldn't be caught dead with a stomach pump BACK EAST, pretty boy! Now if you would put that bulb back in your sing pack and and pass me another double expresso imperial stout we might get on to some more fish", or something to that effect.

I don't pump stomachs, but the thought that you are willing to rip a fish from its habitat by impaling a hook into it, on top of that risking the fish get said hook caught in its stomach / throat or gills, but you draw the line at a stomach pump is comical.

This always seems silly to me.

Well, you caught the fish so they’re taking whatever you were offering what more do you need. I mean assuming you’re releasing the fish.

I’ve used them for trout in lakes in Pa. None of the fish were wild and I’d probably never do it to fish in streams. Lakes are a different animal when it comes to a trouts diet. My local spot I found the trout were full of zooplankton. Rarely did I find a single bug or baitfish. Does it hurt the trout I’d say 50/50 if done right they are probably fine. Also the fish have to be big enough. A trout under 15 inches I wouldn’t even bother trying it.
