What is the sixth mass extinction and what can we do about it? | Stories | WWF
The planet has experienced five previous mass extinction events, the last one occurring 65.5 million years ago which wiped out the dinosaurs from existence. Experts now believe we’re in the midst of a sixth mass extinction.
- Invasive species are thought to have been involved in 70% of this century's extinctions of native aquatic species, and 42% of current endangered species are impacted significantly by invasive species;

Invasive Non-Native Species | US EPA
This module provides general information on invasive species and their impacts along with links to various sites regarding the control of invasive species.
Many species on the PA wild life action plan have large concerns about impacts from invasive trout and there are huge glaring gaps in research that PFBC prob doesn’t want investigated on purpose. We know their a threat to brook trout and MD, peter petokas and others say their a threat to hellbenders. This decades species of greatest conservation need is next decades endangered species potentially and PFBC has a bunch of people who’s only experience in aquatic biology is bias towards invasive brown trout or hatchery fish steering this “resource management” agency Bus off a cliff.
