As some of you know I’m big into catching snakeheads on the fly from my kayak. With all that being said I am in the business of weedless flies or I would have long….. days in the kayak. So I am starting this post to share some of my ties in hopes to get your creative thought’s moving or I might even help you catch more fish .here is a link for a step by step for my snake charmer https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...et=gm.2198590986955217&type=3&mibextid=r5uJeJ

Damn! Those are some great looking snakes.

I had my first one on on Saturday, but it threw the hook jumping. I want one bad, but it's looking like it won't happen this year.

What is your bite guard for these snakes?
Sweet fish Fred.

I use 25 lb straight leader you don’t need a bite guard . I’ve only been bite off once and it was by a massive bowfin.

Incredibly good photos and good work! I'm glad to see someone going after these ultra-aggressive fish. I've only ever seen one of these, a small one, in a bucket by the Schuylkill that was being kept. That one was taken on conventional tackle.

I was intrigued about this fish ever since I had watched the episode of River Monsters that pertained to them with that story, I don't know how believable it is, where a snorkeler shoots one with a a spear and it charges him and kills the swimmer by ramming the spear through the googles. Sounds like a very extreme circumstance to me and I don't really know how possible something like that could be.

Anyways, thanks for sharing, those are some incredible fish as well as some really neat patterns that I have not seen before. Seems like a lot of the flies revolve around having a large foam head.

nice. snakehead on fly gear would be nice. i never targeted them or caught one. im sure the delaware river has them?

Yes they are in the tidal Delaware River

I know someone who saw a Snakehead on the Upper E Branch Delaware. They are in the Basherkill a trib to the Neversink which flows to the Delaware

Yea I asked Dr. Joseph Love who studies them and he said from their habitat in Asia there is a really good chance they colonize larger trout streams.

Didn’t some get above the dams in the susky on the fish ladders?

I know they can live out of water for short periods of time, truly a remarkable trait of evolution.

Thees two are my most productive flies

I really like those flys, wish I knew an infested (unfortunately) pond where I could use something like that
