3wt7X,did you get the name of the older gent that gave you some tips? If his name is Jan you got advise from one of the best that frequent the SR.

I believe it was Jan... Super keen guy and impressive with a Spey rod. He sure was putting on a clinic when it comes to fish catching. He was standing ankle deep, throwing 80-90 feet of line and picking fish after fish from in front on a guy on the opposite bank. I guess when you have it down, you have it down!!!

Jan is really a fish catching machine! As you said he is also very helpful to those that treat him right.He is from NJ but spends a lot of time on the SR.
