Recent Rain

I cook outside no matter what. If I have plans to cook on my Weber Kettle, nothing will stop me.

And I am sticking with the Weber Kettle. Best cooking appliances I have ever owned. They last forever. Parts are easily replaceable and findable, and they do everything and anything I need them to.

I don't need a Blackstone. I don't need a Traeger smoker or electric smoker. Just a good ol' Kettle.
Again, you guys... PROPANE! 🤣

Dear jifigz,

I have a Weber Smokey Joe, 18" Junior Joe, and 22" kettle. I really like them and use them a lot. I've cooked everything from Thanksgiving Turkey to flounder fillets on the big kettle. But sometimes I just want to set something and forget it, and the Traeger and electric smoker I bought let me do that.

Now that I am closing in on retirement, I'm going to buy a rotisserie for the 22" kettle and a two-level cooking grate with a heat deflector so the kettle will do a better job on low and slow smokes. I'll have a couple of years to figure everything out.

I almost bought a PK 360 grill at Christmas but decided to stick with the Weber's. My Smokey Joe is closing in on 30 years of age and my 22" kettle is 15 years old. They still work great!

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂

Smoky Joes are something I take on every camping trip.

Dear jifigz,

I bought the Junior Joe to take on vacations about 7 or 8 years ago when it was on clearance at Target for $ 29.99. I always use it when Theresa and I stay in cabins. I have it set up with a hinged grate and can do 6 chicken thighs or 6 pork chops so I can cook enough for a couple of dinners, or even stuff to take along for lunch the next day.

I wasn't kidding when I said elsewhere on the board this weekend that I have cooked over every fuel except for dried dung. I prefer charcoal.

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂

Future radar says you're getting some weather around 10pm this evening. Western and NC PA got hammered with wind and rain earlier today. (Mom is constantly checking on her adult babies who live between Harrisburg and Hershey.)
well, looks like it's pretty much missing us. now calling for less than a 1/4".

Sucks, man. We actually got a decent amount of rain here in Central PA, or at least it seemed like it. I don't have a rain gauge out or anything yet.

turns out the original forecast from several days ago was correct. it didn't really start til around 2 AM, but it rained til now. total 1.24".

anyone use the "24 hour rainfall total" site. you can click on your house and see how much rain you got.

Thanks for the site. My gauge had .75 this morning, above site stated .80.

.8 in Hershey from Raindrop Farm. Better than I thought we were going to get. But looks like Lancaster County only like 1/2 inch.

Yesterday's rain may have melted what snow was still remaining in the hemlock hollers around here. Next chance of precip looks like Thursday ,maybe followed by another
light event Saturday. Currently ,modeling guidance suggests a better chance at more significant precipitation early next week. We'll see...

Yeah I think less than 1/2 inch here.

So, the rain is coming down in South Jersey in a beautiful spring rain. Steady and gentle just like April. The air temperature is 55 degrees and there is no wind. We’ve had about 2 inches of precipitation since St. Patrick’s day and hopefully we will get another half inch or so.

I picked a great week for some new grass seed. Maybe it will spread to Central Pennsylvania.

Dear salmo,

Here in Harrisburg, we got a little rain, but no more than 1/4", and that is being generous. Tomorrow the Hawk will be out, and it will be drier than dust by the weekend.

I'll never get to burn the Winter's wind damaged tree limbs until Easter it appears. By then it'll probably be 85 and sunny.

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂

Interesting gov site.

According to the site centra PA didn't seem to get much from the storm.
At least eastern PA is getting something.

The Delaware Valley got or will get a little less than.5 inches. Good news for me as I just had my long suffering lawn reseed.
