Recent Rain

Here in SCPA we have missed many of the recent frontal systems that produced rain elsewhere in the state.

Did get about a couple inches of snow in the highest elevations of Michaux this week, but rainfall in the valleys was very thin.

4 to 20 plus depending on elevation in NE PA and NW NJ.
Dear falcon,

And since the ground isn't frozen and it won't all melt in one day, or be flushed away by rain, that should be a good thing. Some of the snowmelt will actually get into the groundwater where it is really needed. The rest of it will gradually melt and work its way downstream, and eventually downriver, unlike a deluge usually does.

It's a great start towards recovery for sure.

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂

Nobody is complaining about the snow. It did cause outages which were local and not widespread. We needed the rain/snow.

The Thanksgiving rains/snow were a big help overall.

About 3/4 of the state looks pretty good right now. SC and SE PA Trout (and forum members) should probably refill their prescriptions through…Anchor ice with this cold snap and low flows and all. 🙄

It looks like the Kettle Creek drainage is going to get some snow out of the Lake Effect stuff.

I would have liked rain vs the 30"+ inches of snow with more on the way🙁
Out cleaning up the past 3 days roads still are bad.

What area are you referring to?

Erie county
But probably every community east of Cleveland to Buffalo.
Here is a picture from yesterday in at 16mile

It will be interesting to see how big the blow out will be in Erie, with 4" in snow water equivalent in most of the county, plus a couple warm days and 1-2" more rain this week.

Started raining lightly in South Jersey close to the Ben F. Bridge around 10 am. We are on track for 1/4 inch. At least the fires are out.
