Paflyfish 25th Anniversary Jamboree - May 15-17, 2020 (save the date)

Also hoping to make it. With 2 kids under 2, it's a hit or miss but as of now I'm excited to get back into it!

Last year was my 1ST time at the Jamboree. Had a great time - So. I will be returning. Reservations are all set. See you all out there.

Sounds good!

As you already know, I started Shakey's thread and was credited for the idea.

Looking forward to hearing more about this event.

I would start searching the forum for "JAM" threads. There won't be lot of detailed info as the majority of those who go have been doing so for a long time. Most of the good info will be discussed right before the event.

If you are thinking of going and don't want to sleep in a tent or don't have a camper, start searching and try to rent a cabin.

Honestly, if you like to fish, talk and drink to any extent you will enjoy the Jam. If you are looking to learn from others' experiences its enlightening. Its a blast. I've been going on and off for at least 20 years.

welcome to the board

Thanx - yeah I have been reading some of the old posts. My truck is fully outfitted for camping including a roof top tent - we camp and fly fish as much as we can.

Only fished that area a few times but had success. Is the fishing DIY or do groups head out to specific areas?

Its a do as you like situation. You go, mingle, meet people, chat, share, make new friends, share your experiences, etc, often times for newbies some more seasoned attendees will take newbies under their wing. There are no sign up sheets or organized gatherings but no one has ever complained that they were ignored. Give it a go, you wont regret it.

Sounds (reads) like a good time. Looking forward to meeting everyone and hunting trouts. I have made the 3 hour run up to Spring Creek a few times but having the weekend to explore and recon the area sounds like a good plan.

Site reserved for the weekend!

I have the same truck as you. With a wedge fiberglass cap on the bed that I sleep in.

You're setup looks very interesting though.
I plan on coming to the jam also. And would like to check that out

Awesome stop by camp!

My goal for spring is to get nymphing down with my new 10' 3w before we head out to CO in August for Overland Expo and a week or so of camping and fishing out of our Tacoma's.

That sounds like a good time and I am seriously jealous of that Taco. I'm looking to do something similar with my girlfriend.

I'm no expert but I'm happy to help you tightline at the jam if I am able to make it, it's really not that hard

Thanx!

I have hooked 5 landed 4 Browns so far. Need a few more trouts to get use to the leader lengths, Rod length and it being a 3w. Been primarily using a 8'5" 5w up till now.

Don't get hung up on it being a 3wt.... They're basically 5 wts in the butt section, treat em just like your 5. I was using a 8'6" 5wt primarily as well so it's for sure different. Best jumping off point is Dynamic Nymphing by George Daniel though.

The one I lost was the first on the 3w and it was a hog - I was not expecting that much flex in the tip of the rod so the fish played me lol
