Old school customer service from LL Bean

Same thing happened to my 7 year old pair of simms boots. I ordered a new pair of orvis pros. for kicks I asked simms about repair and they told me they are not worth fixing and no warranty on older boots.
 
I told a story elsewhere about a pair of Bean upland hunting boots that had a broken Boa on them. The boots were still in good shape, but they agreed to replace them because they said that they wouldn't/couldn't replace the Boa. They also said that mine were 2 weeks away from surpassing the warranty period when I first called (it was entirely by accident, I had no clue how old they were).
