I'll fish streams recommended by other anglers if I trust them and their words. As for the internet, It can provide a head start toward where to begin on a particular stream but I think Distance to the stream from my home is a big factor. I won't go more than an hour or so to a new stream without someone familair with the stream with me. Imade this decision years ago based on many unsuccessful trips to destination streams.
I think that last statement speaks volumes toward the assertion that people find streams on the internet and go there often. I think they may go but without local knowledge it can be a less than enjoyable experience.
