Indicators - yarn or wool?

I second the use of the OROS style indicators. I started using them and they have been great and perform in all applications where indicator slap isn't a concern. I mainly fish the half inch version but have bought the two larger versions to use for steelheading. I like how the Oros indicator centers itself on the leader which does help to prevent tangles, even if the tangling factor isn't bad with say the offset Air Lock indicators. They cast well to and don't smack the water as hard as I would expect them to. They are quite buoyant and can hold a lot of weight.

Switch to OROS indicators!
I have some oros indicators and I'm not sure I like them because they seem to land hard on the water which can be a problem when fishing for wild fish on smaller streams.
I do use a cutthroat furled nymphing indicator leader that works great. You might want to give them a try. But you do need to learn how to set them up.
