Hi Ordanic. Welcome!

We all started somewhere, so please read articles, ask questions, watch youtube videos - newflyfisher, orvis, and there are a couple really good "fly fishing guides" that put out videos with technique, advice, and ideas. Best way to get into this hobby is to just dive right in and immerse yourself. There will be a lot to learn, but this place is as good a resource as any that I have found. If you were previously a conventional fisherman, you might have a head start - as reading water, and understanding fish will come into play as well - but again, takes time and experience to learn. Finally, don't get too over worked on the different types of flies, that will come with time.

I am fairly new myself and started a little over a year ago. The best I have is to get out fairly often and practice your casting. I’d recommend getting some practice in at ponds and/or lakes. It’s concerning how many flies I’ve lost on stream side trees and bushes, so from a money standpoint it’s a good starting point.

Another thing I hear all the time is don’t get too concerned about having all the different and newest rods. My vintage 3 weight EC featherlight makes pond fishing a blast.
