Has PAFF jumped the shark?

I know. I said I'd organize, but I'm not sure if I will be able to attend this year, so I won't.. But all it takes is a post to start the plan.

The snowball will grow with each post that pushes it down the hill..
It is very hard to organize if you can't attend. Maybe next year.

Please see prior post. "Count me in" sounds like, "if someone else does the organizing I will/might show up."
I know and I apologize.
I’m just not an organizer that anyone but my cat would follow…..and only if I have treats.

You are not missing anything on Facebook. The cool kids aren't there either.
This explains why my wife is still on FB. 😆

I find PAFF refreshing and enduring. It endures because the info and people are solid. Lots of experience- nothing makes up for that. It would be better if more people would just tell their stories. Explain their thought process, approach etc to flies, casting , waters, trips, buddies Lotsa variety too.

For me , even with some experience, half the time the success is unexpected magic and just being in the right place , right time. I come for the magic and stay for the stories.

Nothing more fun for me than to meet someone from the site while on the stream. Like hiking along Penns Creek and talking with a guy for a bit who turned out to be @PENZZZ . Plenty of other times of running into @dryflyguy or Akid or any other number of people I call friends.

Paflyfish has been around almost 29 years and never could have predicted the journey and how lucky I am to come across all you guys.

You don't know this, but one time you and Tom (Afishinado) were sitting in the booth right behind me at the Spruce Creek Tavern. I was there with a good buddy (not a PAFF guy), and we were talking about fishing and other life stuff.

I had never met you before, but I had already known Tom at this point from him attending a WW Jam that I hosted. Anyways, I didn't say anything to you guys, but I should have. I noticed Tom when I got up to leave.

At least I think you were the one with Tom....that was probably 5 years ago?

Yes, I would guess you saw me there with Dave Kile. Sorry I didn't see you there, eating way too many fries must have affected my vision.

Tim Murphy is correct. Alby started it back in 2006 with post about some problems he had wet wading.
So, I did have multiple skin infections back in the day as cited. Turns out the cause was more about my body than the wet wading. I have defective check valves in the veins of my lower legs that cause a bit of swelling and stretch the skin. The stretched skin is more easily compromised by an infection. I've had no further issues with infection since I started wearing compression socks about 6 years ago. Still do plenty of wet wading.

As long as there is new blood here PAFF will continue, imo. GG

Your back was to me, and my back was to you. We were literally back to back in adjacent booths.

I remember that trip well, though. My buddy and I floated his Fly Craft down through, and we had some amazing fishing. At first, we stripped streamers from the boat. Then, we nymphed all the good riffles near the islands. Ahhh. Good times.

If it's the day I recall, Dave and I fished the LJ and hit a great sulpher spinner fall that night. Good times, no doubt...

Yes, that evening was the most impressive sulfur hatch I have ever seen in my life. In the gorge, the bugs were so thick you were practically choking on them. I was swinging wet flies just demolishing fish. I was camped out that night in the SF land, so I was fishing well into the darkness. It was truly an unbelievable experience.

It is experiences like that that make fly fishing and all of life worth it. Those types of experiences are when you know the world and the universe and magical places.

I recall meeting you that day on Penns, and have been fortunate to meet many other pleasant fishermen there.

Wait what was the wet wading danger? I must have been tuned out for that episode. I’m genuinely curious.
For a couple of years, it was a pretty sweet gig. We would basically rent the entire motel in Hancock. I'd have one of the local guides talk to us about fishing in the morning. We had plenty of seats in boats for everyone to get out and do a float trip. Held a raffle with the money going to the fudr. Me and one other guy would donate gear and I did get some additional stuff from a local shop. In the evenings, 6 ft table of food for everybody to pick at. DaveS spent 90% of his trip rowing other people around so that they could catch fish on a regular basis. Had some pretty memorable trips and a lot of good times. When gear would get broken without so much as an apology, things would go missing and the attitude of entitlement to be taken down the river that they wanted to fish became apparent, had to pull the plug on it. There's a couple of us that still get together though.

I've been part of a lot of people's fishing history where they've said, that's the biggest trout I've ever caught and probably will ever catch.
When were you running these outings? It must of been before I came on board to PAFF. It sounds like initially it was a great idea. I've occasionally floated with strangers to split the cost of a shuttle.

Do you still talk to old yellow tooth up there in Hancock? Remember when they vacuumed up your fly rod and tried to blame it on your dog? Fun Times..

Anyway, JackM. Nice seeing that you are still kicking around.

is Gfen still around?

/Back to the shadows......

Yes…rain….lots of it.
If not, pizza at Casolas someday?

I’ll drive to the jam next year.
