Any where from ibsp to the hook is a good start. The wind is all over the place this year but Friday Saturday look like west north west which should bring bunker to the beach. Get out on those sand bars that how I caught all my fish guys who stayed on the beach didn’t do anything. The wind looks stiff north west it could make fly fishing challenging.
There are big sandeels around too like 8 inchers don’t sit on bunker. Sand eels tend to be a first light bite or night time game. If there is rough surf or over cast it can also produce good fishing.

Big Bunker have been in seaside area for a week. Miles of them on the beach
That’s most likely a very tiny portion of the entire coastal, primarily female, striped bass population, which suggests that if environmental conditions, such as temperature, pH, etc were good during an upcoming spring the population could produce a very large year class. Given the apparent size of the fish in the video (if I’m estimating correctly) and their apparent general uniformity for the most part, there’s a good chance that they are from the 2015 yr class, the yr class toward which protection is being directed.

I got my *** handed to me. Fished Friday and Saturday from SH to Sea Girt. There was a huge river of bait way far out with all kinds of activity from birds, fish busting, dolphins and even a whale cruising. I was never in a place where anything was happening in close, so all casting practice.
I planned to hit IBSP this morning, but I stayed up too late and decided to just get the 4 hour drive out of the way and head back to NY when I woke up. Saw zero fish landed even. Damn!

Finally got a night with light winds and put the smack down on some schoolies! Between my fishing buddy and myself we fished from about 10pm to first light and caught over 100 stripers from 16 to 26 inches with most being in the 18-24 inch range! Most fish were caught from kayaks but I did get 7 wading the flats while stretching the back and legs. We fished the last of the outgoing tide and most of the incoming. All fish caught on size 1 clousers. Water was clear.
