I very much doubt their bosses tell them to sensationalize storms for any reason, mainly because schools and businesses rely on forcasting to determine if there's a need for closures/cancellations.

Some of the long range models show a very cold (for mid-March), and snowy pattern following this warmup. Too far out to take credibly, that being said, the models are having a pretty good Winter when it comes to forecasting our cold snaps. I think it’s likely it’ll be cold. Whether snowy or not probably depends on where you are exactly.

Cold for March is different than cold for January. Likely on the order of 6 or 8 degrees for average temps, but still, you’re likely talking below freezing for the most part, and any precipitation events will be Winter weather type if the cold snap in the models pans out.

My money is still on/about 4/15 for Spring’s arrival. Temperature wise anyway. 😉 I’d love to be wrong, but I’m probably not.

I hope you're right. March is the Lion/Lamb, Lamb/Lion month for good reason. You can see spring coming, right up until winter decides to kick you square in the nads.
