Hey guys,

Heading to Tamarindo in a few weeks. Going to take the fly rod with me. Will be fishing from shore most likely in Playa Langosta. Still need to decide between the 7wt or the 8wt. May just take the 8wt to be safe. I have very little salt experience from shore and would appreciate any and all advice from tips to patterns to tie up. I will be targeting snook, snapper, rooster (possibly) and jacks. Patterns can be anything from simple to complex - I like challenges. Thanks ahead of time guys!

I went to Manuel Antonio National Park in 2023. The trip was great and we would love to return to Costa Rica again. As for fishing, I took an 8wt with an intermediate line and did some casting from the beach. I caught something that I was not able to identify but it was a fish. For flies I used clouser minnows and deceivers.

I wish I had more useful information for you, but that’s all I have.

Ill take any and all advice. Just trying to grow as a fisherman and want to put myself in new situations. This seems like a good opportunity!

Thanks for the response!

Headed down there in 2 weeks- Quepos area. Going to take an 8wt, floating and intermediate line. First time fishing in the salt but just planning to wade early in the AM before the fam is up. There is surprisingly little info out there on fly fishing CR

I recalled listening to this:

No idea how useful it is in practical terms 🤷‍♂️
