Saw this article in the local paper this morning. Says more land
was recently made available as part of the Cherry Valley Wildlife refuge near Wind Gap/Bangor (near where route 33 passes over the blue mountain). The article states that the area is currently closed for fishing, but is expected to be open in the near future. Is anyone familiar with area and have an idea of what kind of water may be present there?

From what I can tell, there are two naturally reproducing streams within the refuge...Cherry Creek and Ross Common Creek. West Fork Martins Creek may flow through the area in the Northeast corner of the tract. I've never fished those three so I couldn't begin to tell you what you might expect to find there. I would probably check out Cherry Creek though since it eventually runs into the Delaware River. That kind of feels like Pandora's Box to me, and those are the streams I like where potential surprises await.

Thanks for the input. I found a much more descriptive article here.

Tanker: Very good news! Thank you for posting this.

Am I correct in interpreting the 2 articles to mean the original stretch of Cherry Creek along the old golf course (June 19 article) is now open to fish, but the new area (Sept. 4th article: "4,350 acres along the Northampton-Monroe County border.") will be open in the near future?

That was my understanding as well. I believe permits are required to fish the small open stretch at the moment, but access is planned to expand in the near future. Great work by the TU folks to create habitat and coordinate the efforts in general.
