Man I grinded for this one here, waded 3-4 miles and came across this guy sitting in a hole rising for flies. I don’t have a fly rod yet so I tied my joes flies on and got to work. He bit it 3rd cast and man it was on like donkey Kong. Getting him in was really hard. My net floated down stream a bit😂 I was standing on a muck bottom going down into it trying to get him out of it. Got him to the bank, wet him and my hands. I know you’re not supposed to put trout on the bank but he was so big thought he was gonna snap my UL rod that I just bought!! So I apologize for my bad trout etiquette, was a solo trip as well. Took a few pics then held his tail while he was in water to regen him, swam off happy as a camper. Wasn’t prepared for such a tank and was well worth the grind. Also saw 3 bald eagles on my wading trip.
Joe’s Flies rock.
But always cut off that small treble stinger hook so you don’t impale yourself good when releasing a fish. It’s so much easier on me and the fish to just remove a single hook.
Nice
But not a fan of the pic with the fish laying in some dry grass!
If you released it the way you handled it is not the best for it to survive, although it stiil could
