Saw this posted on a feed on FB, so I cannot verify the authenticity. Allegedly posted recently on Big Spring Creek. If this is factual, does anyone know anything? I am not aware of a change in status from fly fishing only to artificial lures.

Have any idea where that telephone pole is located on the creek or are we assuming it is in Section 01, upstream of Nealy Road

I'd also like to know what signage is UNDER the visible sign.

A similar dust up with a sign happened on the Run earlier this year and when I contacted the PFBC and got to the bottom of it, it wasn't nefarious.

Absolutely no idea, as I just saw it on another FB page. Based on the orientation of the pole to the stream, if I was to only guess, possibly downstream of the ditch and before the parking lot.

I did drive past the ditch last week with one of the guys from work to show him where I used to fish. He asked me what the fly fishing only sign means. At least the first parking area has fly fishing only signs up. I didn't read any of the ones below

Consider that:
- NOBODY is permitted to attach anything to a utility pole except for the utility (a measure to prevent injury to line workers among other reasons).
- I've personally seen more special regs areas without signage than areas that had signs. (One can walk/drive from the Little Pine Creek Lake inflow up to Otter Creek without seeing a single DHALO sign.)
- Have with you the pages out of the current year regs that specifically list locations of the special regs locations.

Good guess!!

I did a little research on the pole number...

The pole with the sign in question is located at 40.13228 -77.40732, approximately 250' downstream of the junction of Springfield & Big Springs Road at the EAST side of Big Springs Road.

That is not too far below the ditch, upstream of the parking area and definitely in Section 01, Catch & Release Fly Fishing Only.

I notified SC Regional Law Enforcement and they are looking into the situation. It is obviously incorrect signage but it has the appearance of being more than a few years old.

I don't think Section 01 ever had that designation as it is relatively new special regulation, maybe something temporary or a mistake. Regardless, I plan do a little research and check my collection of Summary Booklets.

Bottom line, it could be nothing more than the Fly Fishing Only sign being torn off, exposing the old/incorrect sign.

In the meantime the regs haven't changed and there will be a tomorrow...
