I browsed through the forums for best websites to buy flies, and most people voted for theflystop, angler's dream, Big Y Fly, flyshack, myflies.com, and KBE Fly fishing (they sell Frontier Fly Company flies on their website and on ebay).

Since most of the responses were geared toward trout and other local flies, can you please share where you buy your saltwater flies? I need to buy bonefish flies for my Andros trip, and will be focusing mostly on gotcha variations, crazy charlies, and shrimp/crab patterns. I am looking for suggestions on places that sell quality saltwater flies with good solid hooks for a fair price, and can ship them immediately as I am going on my trip in early Dec. Since the fly selection seems to be somewhat limited on the websites listed above, I will probably end up having to purchase from several of them to get the complete set of specific flies that I'm looking for.

Thanks for any recommendations you can share!

I like bearsden for all my tying material and bass flies. http://www.bearsden.com/page739.html

+1 for bearsden. Its an actual shop with great customer service.

SS Flies also came to mind since you mentioned the tropical patterns. I've never dealt with them personally, but I've only read good things about the company.

Hi all, thank you so much for your recommendations! I looked at bearsden and bigmeadows but unfortunately they did not carry the specific bonefish flies that I was looking for. I ended up placing a large order thru SS Flies as they are made in Maine and have high quality materials and expertise, so I think they will be worth their price and I try to support american tiers. To keep within my fly budget, I also rounded out my fly set by ordering Umpqua flies online, as well as other bonefish flies from anglersdream and flyshack. Thanks again for your help! =)

I am sorry I didn't see this sooner or I would have suggested you take a look at Sierra Trading Post. They have an assortment of Crazy Charlie's, Gotchas, and crabs. Most are Asian tied. Quality is good enough for the price: with their coupons, you can drive the cost down to 4.38/dozen which is not much more than you pay for one fly at some places. I don't fish salt but have bought a few salt patterns from STP and added them into my trout arsenal. I figure at the very least they are a type of pattern heavily pressured trout have not seen yet and on the lone day I was steelhead fishing this year it paid off, as one of the three fish I caught was using a saltwater fly.
