2025 Fly Tying Resolution

As a new fly tier, I've been getting the hang of tying nymphs, parachutes, and comparaduns. I feel like I've made some good progress so far. For 2025, I'm aiming to challenge myself and get comfortable with streamers.

1. Organize the hundreds (thousands?) of flies I have tied and stashed in cups and pucks into workable fly boxes so I don't just tie the same thing (Parachute Adams, Humpies) over and over again.

1. Tie a few mono beast flies (flyes)

If you want to get more into dubbing loops I can heartedly recommend the Smhaen dubbing twister. They tain’t cheap, but after many years of tying flies and using several other dubbing loop tools, that is the only one I’m ever going to use from now on. (See this video)

I hope I’m not turning into a gear junkie but after watching the video, i think I need one.

My resolution is to tie more efficient knots on my flies. A big “THANK YOU” to all of you who provided videos on the Knot Tying Post. All of them will help me. I spend way too much time at the stream trying to switch flies (or, tying new flies due to tree snags…2nd Resolution: Improve casting on tight tree-lined streams).
